My Life as a Little Cat ~ Chapter Three
2003 was a year for us to just enjoy being together. This new leather chair is comfortable from top to bottom!
Big and I loved to go outside each day and the warm sunshine was irresistible.
I always liked to keep a paw on Jerry ... just to make sure I knew where he was at all times. I could sleep like this for hours.
Here's Big wanting out on the balcony for some fresh air.
We liked to sleep on the sofa together ... sometimes on each end of the back pillows and sometimes like this.
Big enjoyed the beach and watching the birds and other animals around the complex.
Never could resist a box.
We got these giraffes in New York and they were interesting to hide behind.
Here I am with Jerry, full out asleep. This is how we slept every single night.
In November of 2003, I had my first seizure. It was Thanksgiving Day on the balcony in Galveston and we were so scared. I bounced back, but as soon as we returned to Houston I met Dr. Rose and she diagnosed my thyroid condition. It would have required a pill every day, which would not have been easy given my personality. The other option was much more expensive, a radiation treatment at the Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, but it would be a permanent fix. I was already 16 and they worried I wouldn't live through it, but knew I couldn't live with my over-active thyroid.
We did the math and decided to go for it ... if I lived just two more years the procedure would equal the cost of the daily pills. So just before Christmas I went to Gulf Coast where they "killed off" most of my thyroid. I was radioactive for DAYS and couldn't go home until I was safe to be around. It took longer for my older body to process out the radiation, but I was home for Christmas and never looked better!
